How do you keep your stainless steel grill from rusting?
You are talking to the right guy.
I was the engineering manager for the largest grill manufacturer in North America.
First off, Stainless steel does not rust. All of the iron content has been removed. So if yours is rusting, it is either low grade crap from China or it is not stainless, but possibly carbon steal with a nickel, or chrome finish, or what is called a nickel chrome flash.
To put it mildly, Stainless does not, or should not rust if its metallurgical makeup is correct. Thus the name. Standard food grade is T-304 or higher, but it is not as widely regulated off shore as asian markets dont have the processing standards that we have in North America.
If what ever you have is rusting, something like a rust inhibitor like lanolin oil. Possibly consider buying one that is porcelain or enamel coated instead. If you need more information, feel free to contact me
